Team Rocket's Ambition Comes to TCG Pocket August 26
Team Rocket's Ambition hits Pokémon TCG Pocket on August 26 with Articuno ex, Zapdos ex, and Moltres ex, plus a month of events and promo cards.
Pokémon TCG Pocket’s next themed booster pack is Team Rocket’s Ambition, and it launches Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. PDT. Announcements out of Asia list the release as starting at 10:00 a.m. on August 27, which lines up with the same launch moment viewed from a different time zone.
This is the next big content drop for the mobile game since Ruler of the Skies arrived in July, and it leans hard into villain-team flavor.
The Legendary Birds Go Rogue
The headliners are three Team Rocket-branded takes on the Kanto legendary birds:
- Team Rocket’s Articuno ex
- Team Rocket’s Zapdos ex
- Team Rocket’s Moltres ex
Cards in the set carry a special design featuring the signature “R” mark, which gives Team Rocket versions a distinct look in your collection compared to standard prints.
Beyond the birds, the pack includes Team Rocket’s Lapras, Team Rocket’s Houndour, and Team Rocket’s Tinkaton, with card art showing Team Rocket Grunts scheming alongside their Pokémon. On the Trainer side, you’re getting Team Rocket’s Theft Machine, Team Rocket’s Big Scheme, and Team Rocket’s Boss.
Cosmetics: Boss and Persian
If you like dressing up your in-game collection, new covers and backdrops featuring Team Rocket’s Boss and his Persian arrive Monday, August 31, 2026. Some announcements describe this as a collection binder and display board landing September 1, which again points to the same rollout across regions.
A Full Month of Events
The event calendar around this pack runs deep into September:
- Emblem Event (late August to mid-September): Battle other players in Versus mode and earn profile emblems based on your win count, plus mission rewards.
- Special Assignments (late August to late September): Complete missions to earn Team Rocket’s Shady Tickets. Part of the event is figuring out where in the game these tickets can actually be used.
- Lapras Drop Event (early September): Win special solo battles to earn Promo Card Pack B Series Vol. 12, featuring Team Rocket’s Lapras.
- Wonder Pick Event (mid-September): Fennekin and Meowstic promo cards go up for grabs.
There’s also a Great Puzzle Challenge tied to the expansion. Solving puzzles on a special website during the campaign period earns serial codes redeemable for pack hourglasses in-game. Full details are coming alongside the expansion’s launch on August 26.
Why This Pack Matters for Collectors
Team Rocket sets have a long history of pulling in collectors who don’t otherwise chase every release, going back to the original Team Rocket expansion in 2000. Villain-branded versions of popular Pokémon tend to become collection centerpieces, and putting all three legendary birds in ex form under the Rocket banner is a smart hook.
An introduction video for the pack has already been released on the official Pokémon Korea YouTube channel if you want an early look at the art style before launch day.
Pocket cards are digital only, but if the Team Rocket theme has you itching to build out your physical binder too, browse Pokémon TCG singles for collectors and skip the pack-opening gamble.
