Mega Rayquaza ex Comes to TCG Pocket July 29

TCG Pocket's Ruler of the Skies expansion launches July 29 with Mega Rayquaza ex, deck sharing via 2D codes, and a packed summer event schedule.

📰

Pokémon TCG Pocket’s next expansion is official. Ruler of the Skies launches Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. PDT, and it marks the debut of Mega Rayquaza ex in the mobile game.

If you want to show off the Sky High Pokémon on your profile, covers and backdrops featuring Mega Rayquaza become available starting Saturday, August 1.

New Features Arriving With the Expansion

This isn’t just a card drop. The update ships with three changes to core game systems:

  • Deck sharing via 2D pattern codes. You’ll be able to share your decks with other players by scanning a code, which should make netdecking and sharing brews with friends far easier.
  • Cross-pack card dex registration. When you obtain a card that appears in multiple booster packs, it now registers in the card dex for every corresponding pack. This applies retroactively to cards you already own, so expect some dex progress to jump the moment you update.
  • A rarity guarantee mechanic. If certain conditions are met when opening a booster pack, the next pack you open from the same expansion guarantees a four-diamond or higher card.

That dex change is the sleeper here for completionists. Anyone who’s been chasing full pack dexes knows the pain of a card counting toward only one pack.

Elite Deck Gift Missions

From late July to late October, new elite deck gift missions will be live. Complete them and you get a Fighting-type deck built around Mega Lucario ex from Pulsing Aura and Hitmonchan ex from Mega Rising. That’s a free, functional deck for players who don’t want to burn hourglasses building one.

The Summer Event Calendar

There’s a lot running alongside the expansion. Here’s the schedule:

  • Late July to late October: Card collection missions offering Trainer cards including Leaf, Sabrina, and Red.
  • Late July to early August: Summer Event Missions with booster packs and other items as rewards.
  • Early to mid-August: The Ruler of the Skies Emblem Event, where wins earn emblems and missions pay out shinedust, plus a Community Week event with trade hourglasses and special accessories for trading and sharing cards.
  • Mid- to late August: The Mega Houndoom ex Drop Event with B series vol. 11 promo packs from solo battles, a wonder pick event featuring Pachirisu and Beldum, and the return of Deluxe Pack: ex boosters.

If you’re a lapsed Pocket player, this is a decent window to jump back in. The Trainer card missions alone run three months, so there’s no pressure to grind everything in week one.

Rayquaza Season Continues

Mega Rayquaza is having a moment across the whole hobby right now. On the physical side, it headlines the English Delta Reign set confirmed for November 6, and it also showed up among the Worlds 2026 promo reveals. The Pocket debut landing first means digital players get their hands on a Mega Rayquaza ex months before English paper players do.

In my experience, a big Pocket debut tends to put a Pokémon on more collectors’ radars, so keep an eye on Rayquaza cards generally as the hype builds toward Delta Reign.
