Mega Forces Tins Releasing August 28th
New Mega Forces Tins arrive August 28th with a foil Mega ex promo and four booster packs. Here's what's confirmed about the lineup so far.
A new round of Mega Forces Tins has been confirmed for an August 28th release, and the promo lineup is one collectors will want to pay attention to.
Each tin comes with a single foil promo card, and there are three to chase across the print run: Mega Dragonite ex, Mega Darkrai ex, and Mega Zeraora ex. Alongside the promo, every tin packs in 4 booster packs.
What’s in the Tins
Here’s the confirmed breakdown:
- 1 foil promo card featuring Mega Dragonite ex, Mega Darkrai ex, or Mega Zeraora ex
- 4 booster packs, likely including Pitch Black and Chaos Rising
Mega Dragonite ex
Mega Darkrai ex
Mega Zeraora ex
That promo spread is the headline. Mega ex cards have been a strong draw since the mechanic returned, and getting one guaranteed in every tin takes some of the gamble out of chasing them. The three options give the tins a natural collect-them-all hook, which usually means the more popular promo of the bunch ends up commanding the most attention on the secondary market.
The Booster Pack Side
The packs are reported to include Pitch Black and Chaos Rising. If that holds, it puts these tins in a useful spot for anyone still working through those sets. Four packs per tin is the standard count we’ve seen on this style of product, so the value really comes down to how much you want the promo on the front.
In my experience, tin promos tend to fall into two camps: the ones that show up everywhere and stay cheap, and the ones tied to a popular Pokémon that hold their own. With Dragonite, Darkrai, and Zeraora all in play here, there’s a decent chance at least one of these promos becomes a target for set and Mega ex collectors specifically.
When to Buy
Preorders haven’t opened yet, but with an August 28th street date you can expect listings to start appearing well in advance. Tins like these are usually easy enough to find at retail around launch, so there’s rarely a reason to overpay early unless you’re trying to lock in a specific promo before allocations get messy.
If you’re only after one of the three Mega ex promos and don’t care about the packs, the smarter move is often to wait and grab the single once supply settles. The tin is the better deal if you actually want the boosters too.
We’ll have more once preorder links go live. If you’re after a specific Mega ex from this lineup, you can usually skip the tin hunt and grab Mega ex singles directly.
